What is Gman\view?

If you do not know what GTA is, get the Game Grand Theft Auto by DMA Design, you won't regret it, and you'll have a use for this program :-)

Gman\view can show you some GTA data files. FC stands for FXT and CMP Files.

*.FXT files hold all text used in the game. You can use Gman to load, view, edit and save them in both in FXT and plain TXT format. While GTA will only accept FXT format, saving them as TXT allows you to edit them using your favourite text editor. You can convert a TXT back to FXT by loading it in Gman and saving it as FXT.

*.CMP files hold the city layout. You can use Gman to view a map of the city and save that map as a 256x256 BMP image. The map is generated from the Terrain information stored in the cmp file alone. The status bar displays map coordinates if you move the cursor above it.

Gman will display additional information useful to those modifying CMP files "by hand". Watch (and click on) the status bar! I will not answer questions on what these numbers mean; look on my web pages and inside the DMA tech docs for more information.
